 Seasonal Information Officers

 Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of a busy visitor centre
  • Welcoming visitors and providing information about Cypress Hills PP as well as travel counselling regarding local, regional and provincial attractions
  • Operating gift shop till, handling cash, processing debit/credit card transactions
  • Promoting and selling tour tickets to visitors
  • Light cleaning and maintenance of the visitor centre displays and gift shop
  • Reception duties
  • Event planning, preparation and delivery

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma is required; related post-secondary is considered an asset
  • Exemplary customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in a busy customer service environment; tourism experience an asset
  • Experience handling cash, use of point of sale equipment and till operations
  • Excellent communication, organization and teamwork skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of park facilities and services; natural and cultural history knowledge is an asset
  • Defensive driving course with valid Class 5 license

Rate of Pay  $19.20 to $23.37 / hour

(Plus 11.2 % in lieu of benefits/holiday pay; & weekend/evening premiums)

Term of Employment  4 month position (May - September)

  • Up to 40 hours /week; shift and weekend work is required
  • Final candidates will be required to undergo a criminal record check
  • On-site fully furnished, shared rental accommodations are available

Seasonal Campground Booth Attendants

Primary Responsibilities

  • Registering campers, recording reservations and processing payments using reserve.albertaparks.ca system
  • Welcoming visitors and providing information about Cypress Hills PP as well as local area attractions
  • Operating till, handling cash, processing debit/credit transactions
  • Promoting interpretive programs and recreational opportunities within the park
  • Responding to and resolving customer concerns
  • Light cleaning and maintenance of campground booth and shower houses

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma is required; Supervisory experience in a related field considered an asset
  • Exemplary customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in a busy customer service environment; tourism experience an asset
  • Experience handling cash, use of point of sale equipment and till operations
  • Knowledge of park facilities and services
  • Good judgment and ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.
  • An ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong computer skills; knowledge of reserve.albertaparks.ca considered an asset
  • Defensive driving course with valid Class 5 license

  • Customer service and/or tourism experience is an asset
  • Experience in a busy customer service environment; tourism experience considered an asset
  • Knowledge of park facilities and services; natural and cultural history knowledge is an asset
  • Defensive driving course and valid Class 5 license
  • Excellent computer skills; including proficiency in Microsoft Office

Rate of Pay $19.20 to $23.37/ hour

Maintenance Service Workers

Primary Responsibilities

  • Routine maintenance on all infrastructure, including campgrounds, day use sites, trails, roads and buildings
  • Basic fleet vehicle maintenance
  • Equipment maintenance and upkeep
  • Grounds maintenance, mowing and trimming
  • Firewood unloading and distribution
  • Other tasks assigned by supervisor
  • Familiarity with and practice of all pertinent occupational health and safety (OH&S) policies, procedures and protocols

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma is required; related post-secondary is considered an asset
  • Good judgement and ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Experience operating and maintaining equipment, landscaping and turf management
  • Knowledge of park facilities and services
  • Defensive driving course and valid Class 5 license

Rate of Pay $19.40 to $23.33/ hour

(Plus 11.2 % in lieu of benefits/holiday pay, & weekend/evening premiums)

  • Equipment maintenance and upkeep
  • Other tasks assigned by supervisor
  • Familiarity with and practice of all pertinent occupational health and safety (OH&S) policies, procedures and protocols 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma is preferred; related post-secondary is considered an asset
  • Good judgement and ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Previous caretaking experience an asset
  • Knowledge of park facilities and services
  • Defensive driving course and valid Class 5 license 

Rate of Pay $20.40 to $21.61/ hour

 (Plus 11.2 % in lieu of benefits/holiday pay, & weekend/evening premiums)

 

Term of Employment Seasonal opportunities of varying lengths

  • 36.25 hours /week; shift and weekend work required; early shifts required
