Our Maintenance crew has been hard at work getting the park ready for the summer, including prepping the pool and the beaches for swimmers and sunbathers. Mike and Layne had the task of setting out our swimming area buoys (By the way, guys, they look great -- precisely spaced and a perfect semi-circle). With the beach ready and the pool open, come out for a dip!
We are pleased to welcome back Louise Perrin as our second Artist-in-Residence for Summer 2016! She will be working in the Artist's Cabin from June 14th to June 28th.
Louise Perrin is a mixed-media fibre artist whose work has been exhibited in juried shows, art shows, and galleries at local, national, and international levels. She's been a juried member of the Saskatchewan Craft Council for her fibre art since 2010, and in 2015 was also juried for her hand-dyed yarns and hand knitting. Louise's home studio, Skyswept Designs, was started in 2009, the same year she began dying fibre materials, and she hasn't looked back since! She is particularly known for her snow-dyed scarves, fabrics, and other materials, a process she developed herself. Louise also offers a wide variety of workshops and classes through her studio.
Check out the Saskatchewan Events calendar for the workshops Louise will be offering on the weekends during her stay, and please drop in to the Artist's Cabin to meet Louise, see her artwork, and learn more about her process!
Note: Louise is very sensitive to scents, including perfumes, colognes, body lotions, etc. Please refrain from using scented products before coming to one of her workshops.
Come out to the Centre Block in Saskatchewan and enjoy events and activities throughout May Long Weekend. Help us get the summer started with music, art, a guided night-time walk, and astronomy viewing. Check out our Events calendar for more details!
